I just got out of Yoga, and for some reason it inspired me to sit down and write. I've been thinking alot lately about labels and societal pressures. Since I'm gonna be teaching high school soon, I anticipate these things will start to become important again. In high school it seems like everyone fits into this perfect little box except you. The only problem is that everyone feels this way, so either no one fits into these boxes or everyone does. Society would lead us to believe that everyone fits into a box, but I don't think anyone (even the simplest people I know) is so basic that he or she can be shoved into some tiny societal box. Additionally, I notice that some of the same societal categries exist through the years, eg. middle school, high school, college but these groups tend to change in definition. Are we suppposed to believe that each person in theses groups changes according to some prescribed method dictated by society, or do people change from one label to another, and if this is the case when do these changes take place? Or even more intriguing does the change occur in our perception of specific groups as we progress through life. Are these changes based on society or personal changes based on experience or maturation? Well enough questions for tonight. Maybe I'll give my opinion of the answers later. Maybe I'll even write something in story form.
Thanks for reading
